Pay Transparency: 

The anticipated starting salary range is $20.00/hr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Overview:

97.1 The Fan in Los Angeles is looking for a talented and reliable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Board Operator. This is a key role responsible for ensuring smooth and professional on-air execution across our programming.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Operate the control board, ensuring adherence to station format and timing
  • Arrange and play commercials, IDs, and programming elements according to logs
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FCC rules and regulations
  • Assist with contests, promotions, and listener engagement
  • Answer and screen listener calls for live broadcasts
  • Operate satellite receivers and other broadcast equipment
  • Monitor on-air quality and take transmitter readings as needed
  • Conduct Emergency Alert System (EAS) tests
  • Support producers and on-air talent during live and recorded shows
  • Fill in for shifts including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and vacations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required & Preferred:

  • Previous experience operating a radio studio board required
  • Experience editing audio (highlights, interviews, segments) using software such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools
  • Familiarity with digital broadcast systems (e.g., WideOrbit, NexGen, Zetta, Similar)
  • Strong understanding of the Los Angeles sports landscape
  • Prior experience at a sports talk radio station or network preferred
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, live production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Team-oriented mindset with solid technical and computer skills

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
