Overview: 

The Kathy Romano Show is looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented, and pop-culture-savvy Phone Screener to join the morning team at Philadelphia's legendary B101. As the "gatekeeper" of the airwaves, you are the first point of contact for our listeners. Your mission is to identify the most compelling callers, prep them for air, and ensure the show’s momentum never slows down.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Listener Engagement: Answer high-volume incoming calls with a professional, upbeat attitude that reflects the B101 brand.
  • Vetting & Selection: Qualify callers for contests, requests, and on-air topics. Identify "great radio" voices and stories that will resonate with the Philadelphia audience.
  • Producer Collaboration: Work closely with Kathy and the programming team to relay breaking information and coordinate the timing of caller segments.
  • Database Management: Accurately record winner information for prize fulfillment and maintain a log of caller topics.
  • Social & Digital Support: Assist with real-time social media engagement and gathering digital content during the broadcast.

Required & Preferred:

  • The "Philly" Factor: Deep knowledge of the Philadelphia market, local trends, and the B101 listener profile.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to handle difficult or eccentric callers with patience, wit, and tact.
  • Multi-tasking: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, "live" environment where priorities shift by the minute.
  • Technical Aptitude: Experience with broadcast phone systems (e.g., Telos, WideOrbit) is a plus, but we will provide training for the right candidate.
  • Availability: Must be available for early morning shifts (typically 5:30 AM – 10:30 AM).
