Overview

Overview:

Audacy is seeking an experienced and visionary Data Architect to join our Data Strategy team. This pivotal role serves as the foundational pillar for all data-driven initiatives, ensuring that our data ecosystem is well-structured, performant, and scalable across the enterprise and strategically aligned with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a significant opportunity to shape how data flows across systems, empowering data scientists, analysts, and engineers with reliable, governed, and discoverable data.

The Data Architect’s mission is to design, evolve, and champion the end-to-end data architecture that powers Audacy’s analytics and AI platforms. This encompasses data ingestion, modeling, secure storage, comprehensive governance, and access by BI and AI toolsets. You will partner closely with engineering, platform, and analytics teams to ensure our data assets are logically organized, highly secure, and optimally configured for generating valuable business insights.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture & Modeling: Design and maintain enterprise-grade data models and schemas that effectively support advanced analytics, AI applications, and critical operational use cases. Ensure consistency, scalability, and direct alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Platform Integration: Architect and guide the seamless integration of diverse data sources—including cloud storage, real-time streaming platforms, and operational databases—into a unified, governed, and highly efficient data ecosystem. (e.g., leveraging GCP BigQuery, Dataplex, and Dataform for optimal performance).
  • Data Governance & Standards: Define, implement, and champion standards for data quality, lineage tracking, access protocols, and comprehensive metadata management. Collaborate proactively with data stewards and governance leads to establishing trusted and well-documented datasets.
  • Performance & Scalability: Optimize data pipelines, storage patterns, and query performance for both high-volume batch and real-time workloads. Establish and promote best practices for partitioning, caching, and clustering strategies to maximize efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Collaboration & Enablement: Partner effectively with data engineers and platform teams to translate conceptual models into robust and efficient physical implementations. Empower data scientists and data model owners with intuitively designed, performant data structures and clear, secure access patterns.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Alignment: Work closely with the Platform Engineering team to ensure complete alignment between data architecture, underlying infrastructure, and stringent security policies. Leverage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform) to manage cloud resources with precision and agility.
  • Future Architecture Vision: Stay current with emerging data technologies, innovative architectural patterns, and evolving governance frameworks. Provide strategic advice on long-term data strategy to continuously support and accelerate AI, analytics, and business intelligence innovation.

Qualifications

More About You:

Required Skills:

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data management.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a particular focus on BigQuery, Dataplex, Dataflow, and Dataform.  Bonus points for experience with Firestore (NoSQL) or Graph DBs.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., 3NF, dimensional, and semantic models) and experience with modern data stack tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing comprehensive data governance frameworks, metadata management solutions, and robust data lineage tracking.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD principles as applied to data infrastructure (e.g., version-controlled schema changes, automated data validation).
  • A passion for cultivating clean, well-structured, and trustworthy data that consistently accelerates analytical and AI outcomes.
