The anticipated starting salary range for Detroit, M.I. based individuals expressing interest in this position is $46,000.00/Yr. - $50,000.00/Yr. 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Overview:

WWJ Newsradio 950 and 97.1 The Ticket is looking for a full-time morning Sports Anchor, pre and post game host and occasional fill-in talk show host.  All candidates must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work on nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Anchor live updates on both stations for several hours in the morning.
  • Prepare for and host pre and post-game coverage for Detroit sports teams and other teams as needed
  • Gather, write, record, edit and deliver content from the studio or at sporting events.
  • Write scripts and ad-lib material for stories.
  • Develop and research potential news stories.
  • Conduct other duties as required by management.
  • Must be proficient with various computer programs and news systems and have the ability to fully utilize all the tools of broadcast and social media in the field (Twitter, Facebook, live and recorded video and audio equipment, etc.)
  • Position requires proficiency or aptitude in editing and packaging news and sports sound and interviews.
  • Position requires contemporary sound and excellent on-air delivery.
  • Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics is essential.

Required & Preferred:

  • 4 year degree in journalism preferred but not required
  • 1+ years anchoring or reporting news for broadcast media and possessing excellent writing skills.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
