Overview

WWL Radio is looking for a digital star with strong news judgment and news-gathering skills, as well as a passion for local news and the rich tapestry that is New Orleans. This person will work to grow WWL’s audience across all platforms, from web stories to social media to audio downloads. This is an opportunity to join an award-winning news-talk-sports operation that has built a large and loyal listening audience over many years and continues to extend its reach and build on a great foundation by creating and distributing an array of digital content. 

 

The producer will create website content, newsletters, push-notifications, social media posts and other digital duties as assigned. The digital producer is responsible for executing on all social media platforms, including but not limited to X, Facebook, and Instagram. They will work closely with the newsroom, brand manager and hosts to monitor analytics and help the brand reach its goals.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in digital media, preferably in news or sports.
  • Outstanding news judgment, ability to work under deadline pressure 
  • Strong writing skills
  •  Experience with content management/online publishing systems
  • Stellar communication skills with a can-do attitude and collaborative instincts
  • Proficiency with basic video production, editing & publishing
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proactive, organized, and self-motivated with a team mentality
  • Understands digital analytics and how to interpret data

  • Write and edit stories and headlines to position content for maximum engagement.
  • Help grow the brand's followers and referrals to our website and downloads to our on-demand show clips.
  • Brainstorm and execute innovative digital strategies, and expand monetization opportunities.
  • Respond to breaking news and actively monitor sources of breaking news (Dataminr, X, AP, etc.).
  • Collaborate with digital and broadcast staff to create, advance and tailor stories and other content for web and social.  
  • Post to social media accounts, compose web stories, push notifications and newsletters.
  • Use real-time data from sources including: Google Analytics and Chartbeat to drive editorial/story/audio embed decisions.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
