Overview

The Regional Human Resources Generalist plays an integral role supporting our employee relations team and overall HR operations strategy.  In conjunction with the central HR team, the Regional Human Resources Generalist ensures the execution and success of HR plans, programs and practices. The ideal candidate has excellent administrative skills and experience in employee relations, change management, coaching, mentoring, mediating, policy implementation and more. The ideal candidate is a master of building and maintaining truly authentic relationships with employees and managers. The candidate has coached employees at all levels, and is quick to become a trusted advisor.

 

This opportunity sits in the Minneapolis market, we're open to a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote). The role will support our Chicago, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Madison and Milwaukee markets. 

 

 

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

 

  • Facilitates and manages the onboarding process for new hires
  • Maintains accurate records and up to date employee files, maintaining security and assisting with requests to view personnel files
  • Advises managers on internal processes and procedures to ensure compliance with various policies and protocols
  • Assists with and coordinates employee terminations and processing applicable paperwork
  • Works with FMLA department on accommodation and Leave of Absence requests such as FMLA, ADA. Provides support in gathering information, documentation, and equipment for accommodations where applicable
  • Assists with workers compensation claims and notifies the central benefits team / work with insurance adjuster on gathering information needed.
  • Works with Regional HR Director and supervisors to address performance issues
  • First point of contact for employee relations issues, handling intakes, assisting with investigations, grievances or other concerns and works with HR Director and management to resolve
  • Assists with creating and fostering a unified winning culture and upholding our core values of Community, Curiosity, Creativity, and Courage
  • Partners with management on value added strategic priorities such as employee culture initiatives, employee engagement surveys, diversity, equity and inclusion and more
  • Works with the central team on various elements of compliance to include COVID-19 protocols,  OSHA, labor law posters, MVR violations, policy acknowledgements and other government reporting
  • Uses ticketing system for all unemployment claim inquiries
  • Directs employees to the appropriate informational resources available to them such as company intranet site, internal ticketing system, training, and more
  • Assists with other projects and initiatives as assigned  
  • Occasional travel may be required

Required and Preferred:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in Human Resources and Employee Relations 
  • Must possess knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and requirements related to employment 
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring and mitigating challenging employee issues, including performance improvement plans and terminations 
  • Union Experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, along with the ability to manage multiple and competing demands. 
  • Ability to build trust and good faith with a broad range of stakeholders 
  • Value-oriented behavior – trustworthiness, good listener, high integrity and maintaining strict confidence.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
