Senior Editors will work primarily with Pineapple's producers, editors, and co-founders across the entire process of creating Pineapple's original narrative series. They will be expected to generate ideas for new shows, solicit and assess pitches, play a central role in the development and "green light" processes, and be integrally involved in every creative and journalistic aspect of shows that go into development. The job will largely be focused on limited-run narrative series but may also occasionally include work on longer-term hosted talk shows. What You'll Do
Contribute ideas for reported or fictional narrative series
Solicit and assess pitches and give feedback to potential contributors
around ideas
Assist the directors of development in creating goals and expectations
for the development process, and work with producers and partners in
achieving those goals and in assessing whether to "green light" individual
projects at the end of the development period
Work with producers and talent to storyboard individual episodes and
overarching arc for serialized narrative shows
Work with hosts and producers to develop reporting strategies
Assist Senior Producers in structuring and clearly communicating
production process and deadlines
Collaborate with hosts or producers to craft scripts, incorporate tape
and assist hosts to adapt their “voice and point of view” write scripts
Offer structural feedback and shape script drafts through line edits and
rewrites
Assist Senior Producers in consolidating and translating editorial
feedback from fact-checkers, partners, and legal counsel into workable
solutions for the production team
Give insight on ethical questions around reporting
Assist producers with host tracking, available for in-studio rewrites

A deep understanding of the necessary components of a great story that
fits with Pineapple’s values and slate
Confidence to represent Pineapple when reaching out to new collaborators
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Patience and eagerness to work with collaborators who are new to audio
Excellent host and talent management skills
Flexible approach to developing projects from the ground up
Ability to juggle multiple projects at various stages with many players
Ability to diplomatically and gracefully manage situations in a changing
