KYW Newsradio, a 24/7 multiplatform newsroom, is seeking an accomplished news manager to lead the most experienced and dynamic reporting team in Philadelphia. The News Director’s leadership will help shape KYW’s agenda-setting coverage on a day-to-day and long-term basis. We are seeking a manager who fosters a creative, collaborative spirit and excels in high-pressure breaking news environments. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about coaching, motivating, and providing patient, constructive editorial support for both up-and-coming and experienced newsroom talent.


  • Lead with a positive, collaborative spirit and creative vision
  • Mentor and coach reporters through regular feedback sessions and daily editorial guidance
  • Shape day-to-day news coverage by prioritizing quality story ideas and fostering creative pitches from reporters
  • Maintain an editorial calendar
  • Plan long-term projects and in-depth reporting series
  • Oversee newsroom scheduling and ensure coverage needs are met for both breaking and planned news events
  • Work collaboratively with Digital Managing Editor and Director of Podcasting to generate and promote amazing multi-platform reporting


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 3 years experience in a management role in a medium- or large-market multimedia newsroom
  • Familiarity with the Philadelphia market and its unique sense of community
  • Excellent news judgment and intuition
  • Extreme patience, interpersonal skills, and a tolerance for a high-pressure environment
  • Strong mentorship skills
  • Strong organizational skills and solid work ethic
  • Willingness to experiment and innovate
